Evidently one of the benefits of investing in a quad booth at The Bridal Extravaganza is the invitation to set up your booth one day before the rest of the vendors. Normally, today I would be rushing to set everything up, but the job is already done! I am so happy about this. Lindsey, my sister who is in from L.A., helped me out yesterday and the booth is already set up! 95% of my work is done.
I was able to get to bed early last night and I am very well rested this morning. The kids are still asleep, so this is really going to be the only time I have to write today. Today I will just be tying up some loose ends. If you read my last post you know that I will be giving digital retouching demonstrations at the show that show how computers coupled with the right user can change the human face. I am hoping that this will really draw some crowds to the booth and drop some jaws. But in order to do this properly I am going to need to buy a small computer desk from Ikea. So after I feed and drop off the twins at day care this morning, Ikea will be my first stop. I need to find something that will raise my monitor high enough over my head so that a small crowd sitting and standing behind me can see what I am doing.
Once I have found what I am looking for, it is back to the studio to assemble my purchase and try it out. I then will need to pack up three of my computers for the show. One will be for the retouching, one will be an iMac for people to surf the Solaris Website and Blog , and a third will be to check wedding dates and to book weddings on. Mustn’t forget the printer to print up contracts and receipts with.
While I am doing all of this, Beth will be manning the phones and folding a ton of brochures that I have printed up already. Additionally she will be getting our flyers together. The flyers will advertise a show only special. People who book at the show will be able to chose between two free gifts, each valued at $300.
In the booth at this show will be myself, Beth, and my good friend Suzy. While Suzy is not in the photographic industry, she is a big fan of my work, and the fact that she just has a ton of charisma makes her very easy to talk to.
So the stage is almost set, and I am very excited. There is one problem though, and it’s a big one. Parking. The parking lot in front of the George R. Brown is going through some sort of major construction project. People are going to be shocked and will need to find an additional place to park. We’ll see what happens.
It’s time to feed the bambinos and get my day started. Wish me luck if you are a fan of my work (and you must be if you have read this far). I will post pictures of the show on Monday or sooner. It’s going to be crazzzy.
