Don’t think Katie is always this beautiful Angel seen here. As I write this she is fighting with her twin brother. She’s winning too.
I used three lights in this set up. One was a 1200 watt White Lightning far camera left bouncing off the ceiling. The second was a 600 watt White Lightning in the hall way in the background. The third was a Q Flash with a white and gold umbrella camera right to light the subject.
I originally had a light upstairs, but I like the stairs better dark as it forces my eye back to Katie.
I probably should have used darker socks.

She’s beautiful; and, just think, she’s my grand niece. love Candi
P.S. little girls are supposed to wear white socks–they were the right choice. C.
I love this! The lighting truly shows off the “Master of Shadows”!
Aric,
This is marvelous work. Well balanced directional light with warmth and nice composition…. and the socks are perfect in context of a little girl. I would sacrifice the panel merit for the honesty of the moment.
This image would make a nice 24 x 36 for your studio or home!
Happy New Year Aric!
If any adjustment were needed it might be a subtractive gradient for the hallway. This will allow the eye to stay on the main subject without adversely swinging back to the brighter reaches of the image. GO GO HOEK!
SHE IS AN ANGEL!!!!!!!! As with all children they can be little devils, but Katie is an absolutely lovely young girl. What a knockout! Just wait – get ready to stand by the door as she gets older (Our converation last week at dinner). Love you!
She is beautiful, nice lighting….
when in doubt about shoe, socks, etc……bare feet on little ones are absolutely yummy!! Sugar Toes…
