Did you use a little off camera fill flash maybe?

Hi Paul,
Thank you so much for that. You are correct, there was an SB900 camera right with a small soft box. Just a small small bit of fill. One of the brides maids was also camera right holding the dress to keep its shape. We sat in that position for literally 20 – 30 minutes waiting for the sun to go behind some clouds so we could have a spot free background.
This Bridal Portrait was taken just outside of Rice University here in Houston.
