Aric Hoek has extensive experience photographing his clients all over the world, including Venice, Paris, Versailles, Las Vegas, Scottsdale, Munich and Banff.
We are proud to announce that Solaris has been rated by local brides and voted The Knot Best of Weddings 2008/2009 Pick. This is a back to back award for Solaris, both in 2008 and 2009, making us a two time recipient.
In 2008, Aric was awaded Wedding Album of The Year, and a Second Place award for the second highest scoring print for all of 2008 from The Professional Photographers Guild of Houston.
In 2007, Aric was awarded the highly coveted Photographer of The Year by The Professional Photographers Guild of Houston. At the time of the award the PPGH had 225 members with membership available to imaging professionals only.
Additional awards earned by Aric in 2007 include Bridal Portrait of The Year and Best Illustrative Portrait of The Year from the PPGH, two merits from The Professional Photographers of America, and two merits from Texas Professional Photographers.
In 2004 Aric was awarded Wedding Album of The Year. Also in 2004, First Place and Second Place awards were given for the highest and second highest scoring prints for all of 2004 from the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston.
Aric has been interviewed by Photo District News on more than one occasion.
Aric has served on The Board of Directors for The Professional Photographers Guild of Houston, and is currently active member adhering to their code of ethics. Aric frequently sits as a judge during monthly PPGH print competitions.
Additional professional organizations that Aric holds memberships in, and is in good standing with, includes the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) and The Texas Professional Photographers Association (TPPA).
Aric has achieved his Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Photography, and a Minor in Business, from Northern Arizona University in 1993.

With over 220 members, the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston has grown to become one of the largest chapters of the PPA in the United States.
Its purpose is to create an atmosphere in which professional photographers may associate and learn from one another and stay current with trends in the industry. Each monthly meeting brings a new speaker and print competitions.
Members are assessed annual dues according to the specific membership category in which they belong. All members are required to subscribe to our code of ethics and standards.

Those who have earned the Certified Professional Photographer designation have passed a comprehensive written examination measuring their technical expertise, and have successfully submitted their work to a panel of judges for review and approval.
Founded in 1950, the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston has grown to become one of the largest guilds in the United States. The Houston Chapter of the Professional Photographers of America is one of the most active guilds in the country. With over 220 members its purpose is to create an atmosphere in which professional photographers may associate and learn from one another and stay current with trends in the industry.
The PPGH hosts dozens of local seminars and workshops annually , presented by nationally acclaimed talent. Monthly print competition provides an excellent opportunity to have one’s work judged by a panel of master photographers and also to study work of fellow Houston photographers.
The Wedding & Portrait Photographers International Annual Convention & Trade Show is the leading source of continuing education for members. The convention features a variety of platform presentations with the world’s top wedding, portrait, commercial, lifestyle and fine art photographers.
The Awards of Excellence Print and Album Competitions are also incredible learning opportunities. Judges are internationally recognized photographers, and commment on each and every photograph entered.
