Engagement Portrait

Every hour, on the hour, The Eiffel Tower lights up for ten minutes. Across the street there is a Merry Go Round, and the perfect location for an engagement portrait.
I posed my couple and then asked the operator if he could stop the ride for a few minutes so I could get my shot. The answer was “no.”
We began the shoot at the top of the hour so the tower was lit. Each time the merry go round went around full circle I found my clients in a new pose. This shot was taken on the fifth rotation.
I just love it!

Rouge, French for red.
Without question this image is one of my all time favorites! I had been hired to travel to Paris and I do really love that city.
I had gotten up extra early in the morning the day before our scheduled shoot time to scout out good locations, so when I picked up my clients I would know exactly where to go and not waste any time.
On the way to our shoot, it began to rain. Thinking fast, we pulled into a department store where I ran in for a red umbrella. As our drive continued to our location, I spotted a florist. I jumped out and bought a dozen red roses.
What are they doing behind that umbrella any way? The couple kept the umbrella as a souvenir.

It was my first time photographing at Beth Yeshurun. That tends to make clients a bit nervous when I have never photographed at their location before. Logically though there is/was a first time for every place I have ever shot in. My professionalism and skill never decreases though. Judi and Roger’s ceremony was perfect and went without a single glitch. Their reception was held at the Houston’s historic Rice Hotel in The Crystal Ballroom. Just breathtaking.
