If you’ve ever wondered about the life of a Downtown Houston Headshot Photography specialist, let me share a recent experience that highlights both the joy and frustration of my craft.
Not too long ago, I was commissioned for a downtown Houston headshot photography shoot at a grand building owned by a long-term client. I’ve clicked countless headshots for them, making sure to keep each sessions of headshots consistent wikth what I had previously delivered, year after year. Yet, this particular assignment was destined to be different.
Upon arrival, I was informed that my subject for the day would be one of the company’s founders. Although this newfound knowledge didn’t necessitate any extra gear (I’m always fully prepared, treating each session as if I’m capturing a CEO’s headshot), it did add a layer of intrigue and anticipation to the shoot.
The building’s interior was exquisite, providing an effortless backdrop for my composition. My approach to preparation is perhaps unorthodox to most photographers: I live-stream my test shots to an iPad. This allows me to scrutinize every detail in real-time on a larger screen, set up my camera, and carefully arrange my lighting before the subject even arrives.
By doing this, I can present my subjects with a pre-visualized composition, guiding them on where to stand, how to pose, and so forth. It not only relaxes the subjects, but also enables me to effectively bridge the gap between my imagination and the tangible end product. This meticulous process, I find, consistently yields results that align closely with my initial vision.
The Headshots from this shoot were no exception. They turned out fantastic, exceeding even my own high expectations. The subject’s presence, the lighting, the composition – everything came together to create what I truly consider to be some of my best work.
And here comes the bittersweet part.
These incredible images, these pieces of my craftsmanship, I’m forbidden from sharing. They won’t appear in my portfolio, they won’t grace my website, and they’ll never make it to my marketing materials or social media feeds. In essence, they’ve become invisible masterpieces, destined to be appreciated by a very select audience, all due to confidentiality agreements.
This restriction, while understandable from a corporate perspective, presents an added challenge in showcasing my skills and marketing my services. Nonetheless, it is a testament to the trust my clients place in me – a trust that I respect and cherish deeply.
So even though you may not see some of my finest work, know that each image I share, each moment I capture, is imbued with the same passion, dedication, and pursuit of perfection. After all, you never know when you might be the subject of my next hidden masterpiece.
